The Surrey Police Service (SPS) has released a photograph of a 20-year-old Punjabi youth who was recently deported from Canada for his alleged involvement in the extortion crisis. The suspect, identified as Prabhjot Singh (20), was arrested by the SPS earlier this year. Following his arrest, the police shared intelligence with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) regarding his suspected role in extortion-related activities. Consequently, Singh was stripped of his legal status and removed from the country. Now, the Surrey Police Service are seeking more information about him and his associates. As per the news report, SPS Chief Constable Norm Lipinski stated, “The SPS continues to work with our law enforcement partners with the shared objective of tackling the interjurisdictional and national components of extortion.”Lipinski add, “We remain steadfastly committed to our policing colleagues and to our community in combating the extortion crisis.”The Surrey police decided to publish a photo of Singh on Monday after deeming it necessary to further their investigation, the department said in a news release.Recent police data indicates that the city has recorded 91 reported extortions and 16 related shooting incidents since the beginning of 2026.The authorities believe that identifying the foot soldiers of these operations is key to uncovering the potential criminal networks orchestrating the violence from both within Canada and abroad. The SPS has reminded the public that a $250,000 Extortion Reward Fund, established in late 2025, remains active for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.Anyone with information regarding Prabhjot Singh’s activities is urged to contact the Surrey Extortion Tip Line or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
