Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday met Harleen Sharma from Chaina village of Faridkot, who topped the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class X examinations-2026. The CM congratulated Harleen and her parents, who were accompanied her to the CM’s residence.The Chief Minister said achievements of students reflected the immense talent and potential of Punjab’s youth. He congratulated Harleen Sharma for securing the first position in the state with an exceptional 99.38 per cent marks (646 out of 650).He also praised Manimehsh Sharma and Riya Rani, who secured the second and third positions, respectively, with 99.23 per cent marks (645 out of 650).Harleen (16), daughter of a farmer from Chaina village near Jaito in Faridkot district, is a student of Saraswati Senior Secondary School.Harleen’s father, Jaswinder Kumar Sharma, studied up to Class X, while her mother, Renu Bala, studied till Class VIII.Despite the family’s modest educational background, Harleen remains deeply committed to her studies. Her father shared that she would wake up at 4 am daily to study before school and often continued studying late into the night until 11 pm.Remarkably, Harleen achieved this feat largely through self-study and guidance from her school teachers.Speaking about her success, Harleen credited her parents for their constant encouragement and motivation. Sharing her future aspirations, she said, “It is my parents’ dream to see me become a judge, and I will work hard to make that dream come true.”The achievement marks a double celebration for Saraswati Senior Secondary School, Jaito. Just days earlier, another student of the school, Tamanna, had secured the first position in Punjab in the Class 8 examinations with a perfect 100 per cent score. Tamanna was also honoured by the CM at his residence.
