In compliance with the directions issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in CWP-PIL No. 291 of 2025, the Transport department has informed that a number of vehicles registered in the district have been blacklisted due to non-payment of government dues, pending recovery proceedings and unpaid traffic challans.A spokesperson of the department stated that that all registered owners of such blacklisted vehicles, as well as defaulters against whom recovery proceedings are pending, are directed to immediately clear the outstanding dues/challans and regularise their cases with the concerned authorities without delay. The official further informed that a special enforcement drive is being jointly conducted by the Police Department and the Transport Department in District Ludhiana. During this drive, any blacklisted vehicle found plying on roads would be impounded under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the rules framed thereunder. He added that the list of blacklisted vehicles and pending recovery defaulters is available for public inspection at the office of the Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Ludhiana, and would also be displayed at the offices of the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) in District Ludhiana. All concerned vehicle owners have been advised to verify the status of their vehicles and ensure immediate compliance to avoid legal action and impoundment proceedings.
