Students from rural areas have carved a niche for themselves in the Class 12 results declared by Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) on Wednesday.Several schools in Doraha, Samrala and Sahnewal saw meritorious performances with a medical stream student from Nankana Sahib Public School Rampur posting a 99 per cent score and that of humanities from Tagore Global School Samrala at 98.6 per cent.Gurpuneet Kaur, a student of medical stream of Nankana Sahib Public School of village Rampur and the daughter of a farmer, emerged as the topper scorer with 99 per cent marks.“She scored a perfect 100 in physics, chemistry and Punjabi,” shared Nankana Sahib Education Trust Chairman Iqbal Singh and Principal Jaswinder Singh.Gurpuneet was on cloud nine as she expressed that it is the constant guidance of her parents, teachers and elders which enabled her to gain this commendable position.Sharing about the secret of her success, Gurpuneet said, “I revised my entire syllabus well before time and practiced the sample papers to the maximum. I will take a drop this year and appear for NEET exam the next year,” she added.Meanwhile, Arshreet Kaur of Tagore Global School Senior Secondary, Samrala, topped the humanities stream by securing 98.6 per cent marks.She belongs to Faraur village and aims to clear the UPSC Civil Services Examination. In commerce, Mayank Ahuja of Khamano village bagged the first position with 94.6 per cent. He plans to become a chartered accountant in the near future.Saksham Chopra clinched the top spot in science with 90.8 per cent. He has cleared the JEE Main 2026 examination with an impressive rank and aspires to pursue engineering from IIT, shared the Principal of the school, Manoj Kumar.Tagore International School, Sahnewal too shone in the class 12 results. In commerce, Shubham secured 96.4 per cent marks to emerge as the school topper. Guragam Singh of the non-medical stream, obtained 96 per cent, while Anhad Singh from the medical stream garnered 91 per cent. Kumari Pratigya recorded 88 per cent in humanities.Guru Nanak Model Senior Secondary School Doraha too outshone in the CBSE results. Siddharth Jha of the non-medical stream emerged as the school topper by securing 96 per cent marks. In commerce, Harleen Kaur obtained 93.2 per cent, while Gurleen Kaur and Sia both attained 91.6 per cent. Shelly recorded 90 per cent.The students of Nankana Sahib Public School Budhewal recorded a good pass percentage with a number of students securing good marks in different streams.In the humanities, Beant Singh and Yashdeep topped the school with 95.8 pe cent, followed by Gurman Kaur with 92.2 per cent and Taranjot Singh with 88 per cent. In Commerce stream, Gurleen Kaur secured 92.4 per cent, while Soni Kumari secured 89 per cent and Ishmeet Kaur obtained 84.6 per cent.In the science stream, Prabhnoor Kaur secured 92 per cent, followed by Dilpreet Singh with 89.8 per cent and Dilpreet Kaur 89 per cent.Students of Kalgidhar Academy, Dugri too have proved their mettle in the results. Sukhsehaj grabbed the first position in humanities by scoring 94.4 per cent marks. Jashanpreet Kaur secured 88.4 per cent in commerce, while Barinderjeet Kaur tallied 94.6 per cent in medical to top the stream while Komalpreet Kaur secured 90 per cent.Atam Vidya Mandir School, Kanech, Sahnewal, achieved 100 per cent results. with all 56 students passing with good grades. In the arts stream, Shourya Partap Singh secured 91 per cent, in commerce Vibhav Pandey secured 86.2 per cent, in the medical stream Tanveer Kaur secured 84.8 per cent and in the non-medical stream, Lakshey attained 83.6 per cent.School managements and principals lauded the performance of students by attributing their success to the consistent hard work by teachers and students.They were of the collective opinion that the rural schools were successfully competing with urban institutions, despite many a times facing challenges of infrastructure and resources.
