NOTTINGHAM FOREST will rename one of their stands after club legend John Robertson ahead of their final Premier League game of the season against Bournemouth.

Robertson is widely regarded as the club’s greatest ever player and owner Evangelos Marinakis personally made the proposition to the board for the name change.

The Bridgford Stand will become the John Robertson Stand to celebrate the Scot who sadly passed away aged 72 on December 25, 2025.

To mark the occasion, family members and many of John’s decorated former teammates have been invited to a special reception in the Forest boardroom for the showdown with the Cherries.

Robertson was an era-defining talent and a crucial part of the famous Brian Clough-led Forest sides of the 1970s and 80s.

Clough described the winger as “the Picasso of our game” as the 28-time Scottish international drove the club towards two European Cups.

He assisted the sport’s first-ever £1 million player, Trevor Francis, in the club’s first European success in 1979 before scoring the only goal in the final in 1980 for back-to-back triumphs.

He also played a pivotal part in one top-flight title, two League Cups and the European Super Cup in 1979.

Robertson played in two World Cups for Scotland and scored his sole goal at the tournament in the 1982 iteration in a 5-2 win over New Zealand.

He also famously scored the winner in a win against England at Wembley in 1981.

The last stand to be renamed at the City Ground was named after Clough’s long-time assistant, the Peter Taylor Stand, which was unveiled in 2015.

In order to celebrate Robertson and usher in his new stand, Forest are asking fans to be in their seats at the City Ground on Jattvibeday at 15:40, 20 minutes prior to kick-off.
