Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh will continue to reel under heatwave this week as temperatures will gradually rise by 4°C till April 25. Thereafter, there will be no change in temperatures till April 27.Meanwhile, during the same period, rains will lash several parts of Northeast and western parts of the country. A fresh spell of heat wave conditions commenced over the country from Haryana on April 18, it gradually extended to Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and east Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.In the national capital, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the day temperatures will breach 44°C on April 24. It has sounded yellow alert till April 24 in Delhi owing to severe heatwave conditions. In contrast, the Northeast states will receive moderate rainfall till April 27.A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan region from April 23 which will bring rains in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on April 25 and 26. Owing to this, there is a possibility that the day temperatures will taper down.On Tuesday, the lowest minimum temperature of 17.5°C was observed at Najibabad in West Uttar Pradesh and the highest maximum temperature of 44.4°C was reported in Allahabad, UP.IMD in a weather forecast said heatwave conditions would be recorded in the isolated pockets of Haryana Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab from April 22-24. “East Uttar Pradesh will witness heatwave conditions during April 21-25; Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and West Uttar Pradesh during April 22-25; Odisha and Rajasthan during April 23-25; Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar on April 21 and 22; and Vidarbha during April 24-26,” the Met Department said.“A gradual rise by 2-3°C in maximum temperatures leading will lead to heatwave conditions at isolated places in Delhi during next five days,” IMD said.
