But fans watching from home were not able to finish taking the scenes in before the broadcast went down.

The team were presented with the iconic trophy, and had their big moment broadcast as captain John McGinn held it aloft in front of the travelling fans in Istanbul.

But as the players settled down to pose and take pictures with the silverware, the broadcast cut out.

Instead of the celebrations both on the pitch and in the stands, fans watching at home were presented with only a blank blue screen.

Villa fans were both frustrated and amused at the bizarre scenes.

One fan wrote on social media: “TNT SPORTS CANT COPE WITH US WINNING.”

But other fans were less pleased, with another fan adding: “TNT sports coverage is beyond shocking.”

A third fan chimed in: “Can’t even get good coverage even if you had paid for a TNT Sports package absolute disgrace tntsports!!!!”

And a fourth joked: “Maybe the screen has gone blue, because TNT Sports are trying to have a permanent feed on ‘prince’ William instead…”

The royal heir is a massive Villa fan and was regularly shown on the broadcast wildly celebrating his side’s goals.

Despite the broadcast interruption, for fans like him, the night will be one that lives long in the memory.

Not content to be outdone, his team-mate Emi Buendia curled home a stunner of his own from almost 30 yards in the third minute of added time in the first period, to make it 2-0 heading into the break.

Morgan Rogers then capped it off with a close-range finish twelve minutes into the second half to seal the trophy for the West Midlands side.
