Thieves targeted the residence of former Union Minister Santosh Chaudhary in the Piplanwala locality on the outskirts of Hoshiarpur along the Hoshiarpur–Jalandhar road.According to Chaudhary, she lives alone in the house, and the security previously provided to her was withdrawn by the Punjab Government after the new government came to power in 2022.Narrating the incident, she said she had gone to Jalandhar on Wednesday at around 10.30 am and returned home after 7.30 pm. Upon entering through the main gate and attempting to open the main entrance door, she found the lock broken.She said that when she, along with her driver and domestic help, entered the house, they found extensive damage inside. Taps and other accessories installed in the washroom had been stolen and the fittings were badly damaged. Similar damage was also found in two washrooms on the first floor of the house.She said, “The incident has created deep concern as I live alone in the house. It is especially worrying in terms of safety and security in upscale residential localities on the outskirts of the city.”Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident, and an investigation is under way.
