The US Central Command (CENTCOM), tasked to West Asia, on Friday denied claims of Iran having downed a US aircraft near Bushehr, calling reports “false” amid ongoing US-Iran ceasefire and nuclear negotiations. This comes after Iranian media, citing Jam Governor Masoud Tangestani, reported that a “hostile aircraft” was intercepted and downed in the Jam area of the Bushehr province early Friday. The report claimed that the Iranian air defence had successfully targeted the aircraft. However, the US Central Command rejected such claims, saying that no US military aircraft was shot down.Calling the report “false”, CENTCOM wrote in a post on X, “No US aircraft were shot down. All US air assets are accounted for.”“The incident tonight involved the downing of a hostile aircraft,” the semi-official Tasnim News Agency quoted Tangestani as saying. The report added that the situation in the city returned to normal.
