Ruddy worked closely with the goalkeepers while in the North East, fellow Englishmen Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale have fought it out for the number one shirt this season.
But Ruddy has never been in the conversation for playing time under Eddie Howe with the 39-year-old likely to have taken up more of a coaching role.
Ruddy’s Instagram post said: “Geordies… Thank you for welcoming me and my family to your club. The last photo says it perfectly.
“So fortunate to meet and work alongside amazing people. Big shout out to the GK union, led by @barts2729 & @jalal14gk for making every day enjoyable and stimulating.“

Several Newcastle players commented to show their appreciation for their former team-mate, who was clearly a popular figure at the club.
Tino Livramento commented: “Thanks for everything.”
Lewis Hall posted: “What a guy.”
While fellow goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, who spent seven seasons at St James’ Park before spells with Manchester United and most recently Burnley, said: “What a man.”

Whether this post means retirement for Ruddy is another question – what’s next is still unknown.
The star made his name at Norwich City – he spent seven years between 2010-2017, making 242 appearances for the Canaries.
And in his second year at Norwich he was given a place on the plane to Poland and Ukraine for Euro 2012 by ex-England boss Roy Hodgson.
However, a broken finger ruled him out of the tournament – Ruddy went on to make 1 appearance for the Three Lions in a friendly against Italy later that year.
After leaving Norwich the shot-stopper moved on to Wolves where he made 50 appearances over a five-year stint which started in 2017.
He then dropped into the Championship for West Midlands giants Birmingham City to provide competition to their starting keeper Neil Etheridge.
However, Ruddy saw himself become the number one and would go on to make 87 league appearances for the Blues over two years.
He left in 2024 after Birmingham’s relegation to League One.
In the summer of that year, Ruddy signed a one-year deal at Newcastle and made his unofficial debut in a pre-season friendly against Girona.
Last year, Newcastle announced that Ruddy would leave the club at the end of the 2024-25 season, however, he seemingly signed a new contract without announcement from the club.
