THERE are now believed to be 1.6million people in the UK using fat jabs including Mounjaro and Ozempic.
Following their boom in popularity, many companies have launched supplements that aim to mimic some of these effects for people who are unable or unwilling to take the jab.

Today, I look at natural alternatives that could offer a cheaper option.
PROBIOTICS
GLP-1 Metabolic Support supplements have returned impressive results during trials Credit: Supplied
HEALTHSPAN GLP-1 Metabolic Support combines two supplements.
One contains a botanical blend, called Metabolaid® derived from the herb, lemon verbena, and flower, hibiscus, which reduces hunger over time alongside chromium to help reduce blood sugar spikes.
There’s also a probiotic capsule HOWARU® Shape, which supports gut health and body fat reduction.
‘GAME CHANGER’
Weight loss pill ‘expands in stomach’ – as patients eat 400kcals less a day
WEIGH TO GO
Inside Barifest, UK’s weight loss festival where revellers bond over fat jabs
Trials have shown these pills can reduce hunger by up to 85 per cent in 60 days.
I tried them for a month and it did stop evening picking a bit.
BERBERINE
Berberine supplements offer a good range of ingredients and ensure you eat less Credit: Supplied
BETTERVITS Metabolic+ contains berberine, an extract that’s found in several different plants.
It doesn’t activate GLP-1 receptors like Mounjaro, but may increase GLP-1 after meals and improve insulin sensitivity, helping reduce blood sugar swings and spikes that influence hunger.
You have three pills a day, one before each meal, to get 600mg berberine, which isn’t super-high, as you can go up to 1,500mg a day.
But there is inulin in here too. This prebiotic fibre is key I think, because it filled me up, plus inositol and cinnamon extract to support normal blood glucose regulation, chromium and zinc to help manage hunger.
There is a good range of ingredients in here and I did eat less.
POWDER
Evera’s powder solution contains 27 different nutrients – also acting as a multivitamin Credit: Supplied
EVERA Nutrition Go Lean Plus is a powder you mix with water and has a nice berry flavour.
It contains resveratrol, found in grapes and berries that may improve insulin sensitivity, hibiscus which reduces fat accumulation and green tea for a mild metabolic boost.
There’s also berberine (although the company don’t give the exact amount) to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce cravings linked to blood sugar swings.
What I think fills you up here is 3g of glucomannan, a soluble fibre that expands in your stomach.
If you don’t drink it quickly it kind of goes like a fibrous jelly.
But I did like the fact you’re getting 27 essential nutrients so this acts as a multivitamin too.
