Family deserve truth from cops
NINE times Henry Nowak told police officers he couldn’t breathe and four times he told them he’d been stabbed.
Every one of his dying pleas — captured by their bodycams — was ignored.

The last words he heard as he lay handcuffed and drowning in his own blood, barely moving let alone resisting, were his rights read as he was arrested.
Cops who arrived on the scene had automatically believed he was a white racist thug on the basis of false claims by his Sikh killer Vickrum Digwa.
How could the officers have behaved so callously towards a lad in visible distress?
What led one, when Henry breathlessly complained of being stabbed, to say with dismissive, off-hand cruelty, “Don’t think you have, mate”?

Perhaps it’s because since the killing of George Floyd in the US sparked the Black Lives Matter movement, rank and file cops here have been told by woke top brass to give racist crimes priority.

Hampshire Police spent £1million on race training in 2020.
Its Race Action Plan even warns the officers it expects to run towards danger that they will be denied pay and promotion unless they get on board the diversity train.
Forces across the UK employ 300 diversity staff at a cost of £17million a year — enough for 250 extra bobbies.
Senior officers give certain communities special treatment in the pursuit of “local harmony” — as weapons-carrying Muslim extremists were by West Midlands Police in the Maccabi Tel Aviv row.
As a result, ordinary cops are so terrified of getting it wrong over racism that they are at risk of being brainwashed into the kind of unthinking cruelty suffered by Henry.
This wholesale abandonment of commonsense policing has been decades in the making.
Generations of chief constables became so captured by the powerful anti-racism lobby some even declared their own forces institutionally racist.
Meanwhile, it’s all too easy to imagine that had the roles in this awful case been reversed — an ethnic minority teenager arrested after being fatally knifed by a white man — the Left would scream for top-level sackings and a public inquiry.
Amid all the fury yesterday, it was the words of Henry’s shattered family which resonated most powerfully.
Dad Mark called for much stronger action on the ownership and sale of all knives.
The law which allowed his son’s killer to legally walk through the streets with a ceremonial blade MUST be changed.
The family must also be given the un-spun truth as to why a murderer was treated with kid gloves by the cops after crying racism.
Digwa wasn’t handcuffed on the way to the station and was even allowed to choose his own food.
Mark called this contrast in behaviour “unbearable”.
It is also unforgivable.
The woke infection of our police MUST be rooted out.
Anybody in any way responsible for this horrific episode must be sacked.
This must never happen again.
