“I’d love to work with the England squad one day. You want to be part of it in some capacity when we do win a tournament.
“So much good work has happened at the FA, so much quality we’ve built. I trust it will happen at some point.”
Cole took on some coaching duties at the Tampa Bay Rowdies – the final stop in his illustrious playing career.
He also returned to Chelsea and spent around 18 months working with the club’s academy stars.

So everything is in place for Cole to jump at any enticing proposal that comes his way.
He continued: “Hopefully I live a long life! I’m 44.
“I’m doing a little bit of coaching here and there, I’ve got all my badges.
“When the journey opens up I’ll be there when the time is right. I managed to dream of playing for England one day and did that, so who’s to say I can’t do it all again at some point?
“I do love what I do and I’ve got a young family. But when the time is right and the opportunity comes along, I’ll be there.”
