JOE COLE is prepared to pack in his punditry duties if the opportunity to coach England comes along.

The former Three Lions star – who scored 10 goals in 56 games at international level, including a 2006 World Cup banger against Sweden – has forged a successful media career since retiring in 2018.

Cole is a regular on TNT Sports and travels around the world covering the biggest matches on TV.

But he admits there is still a competitive itch that needs to be scratched.

And the ex-Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham playmaker has said that if the opportunity to coach England at a major tournament presented itself, there is no way he could turn it down.

Cole told JattvibeSport: “Who knows what’s round the corner?

“I’d love to work with the England squad one day. You want to be part of it in some capacity when we do win a tournament.

“So much good work has happened at the FA, so much quality we’ve built. I trust it will happen at some point.”

Cole took on some coaching duties at the Tampa Bay Rowdies – the final stop in his illustrious playing career.

He also returned to Chelsea and spent around 18 months working with the club’s academy stars.

So everything is in place for Cole to jump at any enticing proposal that comes his way.

He continued: “Hopefully I live a long life! I’m 44.

“I’m doing a little bit of coaching here and there, I’ve got all my badges.

“When the journey opens up I’ll be there when the time is right. I managed to dream of playing for England one day and did that, so who’s to say I can’t do it all again at some point?

“I do love what I do and I’ve got a young family. But when the time is right and the opportunity comes along, I’ll be there.”

Joe Cole was speaking to the Jattvibe as part of his role as ambassador for Enterprise’s #OnEveryCorner program, which gives fans in the UK and Ireland a chance to win a car when a corner kick leads to a corner kick goal. To enter, participants must post #OnEveryCorner and #Sweepstakes and tag @Enterprise on X or via OnEveryCorner.com from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
