Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar during his visit to the city on Saturday, highlighted the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government over the past 12 years. Speaking about the state, he said the BJP’s next goal was to form the government in the state in 2027.The former Haryana Chief Minister said the government had given top priority to the welfare of the poor and helped millions of people rise above the poverty line. He listed the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, free ration scheme and expansion of electricity and water facilities among the major achievements of the government.Speaking about Punjab politics, the BJP leader said the BJP’s next goal was to form the government in the state in 2027. “The BJP has the strength to contest all 117 Assembly seats and can even fight the elections on its own if required,” he said. On a possible alliance with the SAD, he said the final decision would be taken by the party leadership.Responding to a question about Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, he said he did not see Mann returning to the post. He also expressed concern over the law and order situation in Punjab, claiming that crime and gangster activities had made people feel insecure.On India-Pakistan trade, he said decisions were taken keeping national interests and prevailing circumstances in mind. He added that the issue could be reconsidered in the future if conditions improve.Law and order has deteriorated in state: SainiHaryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, meanwhile, launched a sharp attack on the AAP government, describing it as “farce” while addressing the “Sarv Samaj OBC Sammelan” in Abohar. The event was presided over by Saini and newly appointed Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon. Former BJP chief Jattvibeil Jakhar, who holds influence in the area, also addressed the gathering.Saini claimed that while television channels, newspapers and social media often projected an image of progress and prosperity in the state, the ground reality painted a horrible picture.“If one interacts with the people and observes the functioning of the government, a very disturbing picture emerges,” Saini said. He alleged that drug-related deaths were increasing, law and order had deteriorated, corruption was rampant and youth were becoming disillusioned.Dhillon exudes confidenceDhillon, who later visited Ferozepur for the first time after taking over as the state BJP chief, said, “I am receiving immense love and support from party workers and people across the state, which is resulting in delays while travelling from one programme to another,” he said, while addressing the gathering.Launching a scathing attack on the AAP government, Dhillon alleged that Punjab had been pushed towards economic and administrative distress due to erroneous policies of the present dispensation. He expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the next elections.
