AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday claimed 70 per cent of the drugs making their way to Punjab were coming from Gujarat. He said Gujarat had become the gateway of drugs under the “ED Party” (as he called the BJP). He also referred to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as “ED party ka damaad” (son-in-law of BJP), implying he was being sheltered by the Centre.Kejriwal made these comments while addressing traders during the ‘Sarkar-Vyapar Milni’ in Jalandhar. While referring tacitly to the SAD, BJP and Congress respectively, Kejriwal said the state had four parties — the Chitta Party (or the Beadbi Party) i.e. SAD; ED Party (BJP); Jhagda Party (Congress) and the AAP.Accusing the BJP of targeting traders in the state through the ED, he reiterated AAP was reaching out to address their problems.“Last year, the ED Party collected Rs 60 crore donation from Punjab. But AAP got only Rs 70 lakh donation. The government is ours. The BJP has only two seats. But ED Party received generous amounts from industrialists…how? Through the threat of ED raids. Whoever didn’t give money was raided,” claimed Kejriwal. He alleged, “The ED Party (BJP) and Chitta Party (SAD) alliance took drugs to people’s homes in the state. But the AAP government is acting stringently against drugs and bulldozers are razing drug smugglers’ properties.” The AAP national convener alleged, “70 per cent drugs and ‘chitta’ coming to Punjab is from Gujarat. Gujarat has become the gateway of drugs under the ED Party. When the AAP formed the government in Punjab, 70 per cent of the drugs were coming from Pakistan and 30 per cent from Gujarat. We took decisive action and much of the drugs coming from Pakistan have been curbed with policing and anti-drone action.”To support his claims, Kejriwal cited the seizure of 3,000 kg drugs at the Mundra airport (worth Rs 21,000 crore) and a CAG report on 2,200 kg drugs being eaten by rats in Gujarat. The AAP national convener said, “There are four parties in Punjab — Chitta Party…people also view this party with hatred and anger over sacrilege incidents. The second is the ED Party. The third Jhagda Party — whose leaders keep fighting with each other and don’t do anything worthwhile. The fourth is AAP — aap ki party (your own party), people’s party.”Taking on the BJP on law and order, Kejriwal alleged, “Almost all state gangsters are henchmen, associates, kin or relatives of the former parties’ leaders. But AAP is cleaning out gangsters. Only one remains — Lawrence Bishnoi. He is sitting in Sabarmati Jail. He’s the ‘damaad’ (son-in-law) of the ED Party and is being protected by it. The MHA has passed an order that no one can take him anywhere else. So while Bishnoi pulls off activities across the world from inside the jail even Punjab Police can’t bring him to the state. They have to interrogate him at Sabarmati Jail. The gangster ecosystem remaining in Punjab is due to the ED Party.”Kejriwal promised three good news to the people of Punjab — starting of Tirath Yatra on three additional routes including Salasar, Khatu Shyam, Mathura and Vrindavan; revamp of the Kali Mata temple at Patiala; and bringing a renowned play by actor Ashutosh Rana, based on the Ramayana, to Punjab.Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the former parties, especially Akalis, had extorted money from traders so much so that they were even scared of success. Successive governments nurtured criminal elements and made a hue and cry when the AAP government started taking stern action against criminals. The CM assured the 500-600 traders present at the meeting that all of their demand letters would be collected and their problems addressed. The ‘milni’ also saw the presence of AAP Punjab affairs incharge Manish Sisodia, state president Aman Arora, Cabinet Minister Harpal Cheema, ministers, MLAs, functionaries of the trade wing among others.
