Palmer, then 17, contacted her through Roblox before chatting to her on messaging platform Discord.
He blackmailed her into sending nude images as well as evidence of her self-harming — even making a bogus bomb threat to force her to comply.
His trial was told the “extreme” self-inflicted acts included carving words on her body.

Prosecutor Jordan Stables told Sheffield crown court that at one point “the girl was crying and told him she was crying.
“He said he did not care, and his threats and demands continued. At one point Palmer told her he was going to groom her, which she interpreted as molesting or sexual abuse.”
She told police and Palmer, of Sheffield, pleaded guilty to encouraging serious self-harm, causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, making indecent photographs of children, possessing extreme pornography and perverting the course of justice.
He was jailed for four years and nine months, with an extended licence period.
The girl watched as Judge Peter Hampton told him: “Anyone who encourages children to abuse or harm themselves should expect severe punishment.”
Campaigners have already called for tougher punishments for 764 members than current British laws allow.
