ROY KEANE slammed World Cup Wags for one trend which he finds ‘ridiculous’.
The Manchester United legend was taking part in his role on the Overlap, alongside Gary Neville and Ian Wright, when he revealed part of Wags fandom that drives him up the wall.

When he was asked what he would put in Room 101, a term meaning to name a pet hate that they would rather never have to deal with again, he pulled no punches.
He snapped: “The World Cup, when all the players wives and families are going to the match, all the wives are in the jerseys with the players names on the back, wow.
“Children is fine, but the wives and partners wearing their jerseys, with their name on the back, wow.”
The surprising outburst had Neville and Wright in stitches in the studio.

Ian Wright especially struggled to wrap his head around having so much distaste for an apparently wholesome gesture of support, responding: “I don’t mind that.”
Keane replied with surprise: “You not with me on that page? A year later they are separated, most of them.
“And they’re all getting pictures, and they’re pointing at a Jimmy or Johnny on the back, wow. We know who you are married to.
“Children is fine, the partners is ridiculous. All sitting in the same family section, I’ve got my jersey, have you got yours? I’m not having it.”

Wright again chimed in to defend the practice, arguing: “I don’t mind it Roy.
“Her husband is playing and she’s proud of him and she wants to wear his shirt, it seems as simple as that.”
Keane concluded: “They only do it at the World Cup, You don’t see it at Old Trafford or Anfield every week. So what’s with the World Cup?
“Imagine a woman going, ‘I’m going to put a football jersey on today with my husband’s name on the back… Wow. Anyway…’”
The outburst can’t have gone down well with the England Wags watching their men cruise to a 4-2 win over Croatia in their World Cup opener.
Jude Bellingham‘s girlfriend Ashlyn Castro had particular reason to feel aggrieved, after watching the match in an England kit adorned with the Real Madrid star’s name.
Jordan Pickford’s wife Megan, Harry Kane‘s wife Kate, and Bukayo Saka‘s girlfriend Tolami Benson were also among the supportive partners in the stands, though they avoided the England strip, and presumably, Keane’s ire.
The former Republic of Ireland midfielder has had a complicated relationship with Wags over the years.

He notably got into a war of words with United boss Michael Carrick’s partner Lisa back when the England star was still playing for the club.
Keane called him out for a lack of heart after the Red Devils lost in the first leg of a Champions League Round of 16 tie to Olympiacos in 2014.
He reacted after the match: “[Carrick’s] interview was just like the performance: flat. He should say a bit more, have a bit more urgency even in his interview.
“That just reflected United’s performance tonight: flat, with no urgency.
“They keep saying, ‘Ah, well, next game, next game’. For some of them there won’t be another game for them. That’s the reality.’”
But Lisa was not pleased with the comments, and fired back on social media: “Roy Keane what a **** says anything to provoke a reaction..That’s all..Done.”
Though she soon deleted the message, Keane can clearly hold a grudge with the best of them, eventually getting his revenge 12 years later when discussing Carrick’s prospects as United coach.
While speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Keane, Neville, Jill Scott and Jamie Carragher were discussing if then-interim boss Carrick should get the permanent appointment at Old Trafford.

But when questions were asked of his ability to rally the players behind him, Keane interjected: “Well his wife can always come in, because she’s got a bit of a big mouth sometimes.
“She’s probably doing the team talks.”
