They played out a 0-0 draw against Ghana in Boston, leaving them top of Group L only on goal difference.
The clash was broadcasted by the BBC with Gabby Logan fronting coverage alongside Wayne Rooney, Micah Richards and Joe Hart as pundits.
But former England full-back Neville appeared to claim that had ITV delivered coverage, more time would have been spent on analysis.
Speaking on Stick to Football – brought to you by Sky Bet – he explained: “When you’re watching a game on another channel, you’re watching as a fan, but if we were doing the punditry on the game, we would have been analysing the game much more.

“We would have been saying how Ghana was going to sit deep and we’re going to have 75% of the ball, which meant that the game wasn’t suited for Anthony Gordon because he likes the space to run into.
“After 10 minutes, I was already thinking that I would have liked to see Morgan Rogers or Eberechi Eze on the left-side – someone who can do something special with the ball.
“Gordon isn’t a dribbler, he’s someone who runs with the ball, and I felt that they needed someone who could do well in tight spaces.”
Neville went on to suggest that despite dropping points, England actually played better against Ghana than they did in the 4-2 win over Croatia last week.

He continued: “I enjoyed the game. I’m going to get heavily criticised for this, but there’s part of me that thinks that was a better performance than the game against Croatia.
“I thought if you could put the Croatia game and the Ghana game and mix the two together, you’ve probably got a really good performance.
“I liked large parts of that game today – the control, the order, the chaos had gone.
“I thought [Marc] Guéhi and [Ezri] Konsa pushing on and stopping counter attacks, I thought they were in control of the match and passed it well.
“Set pieces were a real opportunity in that game – there were loads of corners and free kicks, and the one Declan [Rice] put round to [Elliot] Anderson for the header, that’s a routine they’ve really worked at, they built that space round the back, and it’s a really poor header.”
England next face Panama in their final group stage match pn Saturday.
