He scored an incredible 222 goals for the club, helping them win five titles and the CONCACAF Champions League.

Gignac loved his time in Mexico so much that he has settled in the country and decided to build a ranch in a remote location outside of Monterrey.

There is also an outdoor cinema and a wellness centre with saunas.

Explaining the unique complex, he told Padel Magazine he built it mainly with his children in mind.

He said: “The first time I saw the land, I took a sheet of paper, drew a rectangle and placed on it what I wanted. After that, I got a little excited.

“What I didn’t have myself, I was able to give to my children. I am a child, a big child.

“I built it from scratch. Everything.”

When asked why he decided to stay in Mexico after finishing his career, the Frenchman said: “Mexico is fantastic. The people are noble.

“If I’ve been here for ten years, it’s because there’s something that attracts me.”

Gignac started his career at Toulouse before joining Marseille in 2010.

He played 188 times for the club, scoring 77 goals, and was linked with a move to the Prem during his time there.

In 2011 he came close to joining Fulham before the move collapsed on deadline day.

He was a regular face for the France national side, playing at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and Euro 2016, where he helped his side reach the final on home soil.

In 2015 he left France for Mexico, where he became a cult hero with Tigres.

He would lead the club to 12 trophies before leaving the club at the end of the recent 2025-26 season amid retirement talk.
