SIMBA has put its brand-new Cotton Percale Bedding Set on offer in its June sale, which comes at a useful moment, with much of England under an extreme heat warning this week.

The set is 20% off in the sale, bringing a single down to £71.20 from £89, and a super king to £103.20 from £129.

The sale on the bedding saves between £18 and £25, depending which size you opt for

Simba Cotton Percale Bedding Set: from £71.20 (was £89) at Simba

A double now costs £87.20, while a king costs £95.20, meaning the saving runs from around £18 on the smallest size to just under £25 on the largest.

Percale is the reason to look here if you sleep hot. It’s a plain, tight cotton weave, crisp and matte rather than silky, and it’s the finish hotels tend to use because it breathes and stays cool against the skin.

The set is made in Portugal and comes in seven colours, from pure white through to midnight blue and sage green.

Whether that cooling claim holds up in a real heatwave is the more interesting question, and at least one buyer says it does.

A verified reviewer who posted in June said the bedding was “keeping them warm through the heatwave”.

Another wrote: “A week with this bedding and sleep quality changed 100% no sweating no turnovers to trying find a cool spot. Amazing!”.

The set holds a five-star rating across its reviews on Simba’s site.

Even at the sale price, £89 and up is a fair amount for a duvet cover and pillowcase pair, and a percale set won’t transform a hot room on its own.

What it will do is take the clammy, cling-to-you feeling out of the sheets, which, on a tropical night, is most of the battle.
