The McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish was first launched in the United States in 1962, arriving in UK branches in 1974.
It’s made up of a “crispy white Pollock fish filet patty, with cheese and tartare sauce, in a steamed bun”.
The standard version offers just one fish patty, while the double boasts an extra – along with 453 calories and 24 grams of protein.
The Filet-O-Fish is normally priced at £5.59 on its own and around £7.39 as a meal with fries and a drink.
While the Filet-O-Fish is one of the more divisive McDonald’s menu items, it has a seriously solid fan base of loyal fans.
The National Filet-O-Fish Day deal is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a reduced treat if you’re already a big fan of the burger.
Or if you’ve never tried one and want to see what all the fuss is about, there’s never been a better time.
