As the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intensified its probe into the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, investigators on Monday recreated the crime scene at the Bhopal residence of former district judge Giribala Singh, one of the accused in the alleged dowry harassment case. The CBI team visited the house and reconstructed the sequence of events using a dummy body as part of its evidence-gathering exercise. The reconstruction was carried out in the presence of the two accused, former judge Giribala Singh and Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh. The development comes days after a Bhopal court granted the CBI five-day custody of both accused for further interrogation. Special Judge Shobhana Bhalave had allowed the agency to take Giribala and Samarth into remand till June 2 as part of the ongoing investigation. The case centres on the death of Twisha, a Noida resident who died in Bhopal on May 12. Twisha had married Samarth in December 2025. Following her death, her family alleged that she had been subjected to mental torture and dowry harassment by her husband and his family. The case is being investigated under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.Even as investigators pursued fresh leads, support for Twisha’s family continued to grow. On Jattvibeday, residents gathered in Noida for a silent protest seeking justice for the 33-year-old. The gathering reflected the growing public interest in a case that has resonated far beyond the families directly involved.Speaking during the event, Twisha’s brother Major Harshit Sharma said the family remained confident that the investigation would uncover the truth.“This case is no longer about Twisha. We are gathered here today to express the unity that we are feeling. So many people have come up to support us. A gathering was organised by society and we are here to attend that… We have full faith that the truth will come out,” he said.On May 29, Twisha’s ashes were immersed in the Ganga at Rishikesh. Her father, Navnidhi Sharma, said his daughter had shared a deep bond with both the city and the river. With the accused still under CBI custody and investigators now reconstructing the final moments linked to the case, the probe has entered a crucial phase. The crime scene recreation is expected to form an important part of the agency’s effort to verify evidence and establish the sequence of events surrounding a death that has triggered outrage, public mobilisation and a continuing demand for accountability.
