CODY GAKPO broke down in tears after scoring an emotional goal – just days after his partner’s miscarriage.
The Dutch striker scored to put the Netherlands ahead on 72 minutes against Morocco in the last 32.

Gakpo covered his face as he burst into tears
The ball fell kindly for the Liverpool forward who fired into the back of the net as the defender and goalkeeper closed in.
Gakpo immediately sunk to his knees with his head to the turf as he was overwhelmed by the moment.
His Dutch team-mates rushed on to surround him joining him in support after the rollercoaster few days.
Gakpo’s partner Noa van der Bij confirmed the tragic news that they had lost their baby during pregnancy.

She wrote: “With broken hearts, we share the devastating news that our baby boy passed away during pregnancy.
“Thank you for your love and support.”
Heartbreakingly, they had already picked out a name, with Van der Bij adding the touching message: “Elijah Raphael Gakpo. Forever loved. Forever our son.”
Elijah was van der Bij and Gakpo‘s second pregnancy, after welcoming their first child, Samuel Seth Gakpo, in 2024.
