The CIA Staff of Jalandhar Commissionerate Police arrested a member of the foreign-based ‘Lucky Patial’ gang who had fired gunshots at the gate of a private hospital in the city in February this year. The arrest was made following an encounter with police at the Shahpur village near Jalandhar.The teams intercepted the accused, Yodh Singh alias Yodha, a resident of Shahkot, during a special operation. In an attempt to evade arrest, the accused opened fire on the police team. In self-defence, the police retaliated, resulting in an exchange of fire. During the encounter, the accused sustained a bullet injury to his left leg. He was immediately shifted to Civil Hospital in Jalandhar, where he is currently undergoing treatment.An FIR has been registered against the accused at the Sadar police station under sections relating to attempt to murder of police officials, firing at a police team, obstructing public servants from discharging their duties, and offences under the Arms Act.Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, Satinder Singh said the accused was involved in multiple FIRs registered at various police stations across different districts of Punjab, including Moga, for serious offences such as organised crime, extortion, attempt to murder, and violations under the NDPS Act and Arms Act. The accused had carried out the shootout outside the Jalandhar hospital on the instructions of a Canada-based individual who had a dispute with the hospital owner.The police seized two .32 bore pistols, two live cartridges, two empty cartridges, and an unregistered black and blue Bajaj Discover motorcycle from his possession.
