In an ugly turn of events, a litigant was forcibly removed from the Supreme Court on Friday after he allegedly hurled abuses and threw his case file during the hearing of his petition challenging an Allahabad High Court order. The incident occurred in Court No. 13 before a Bench of Justice KV Viswanathan and Justice Alok Aradhe. The litigant, Prabal Pratap, who appeared in-person, was unusually confrontational in his tone right from the beginning of the hearing of his case.“Mr judicial servant, I order you to order the registration of an FIR against the ACP Lucknow,” Pratap, who was wearing a black coat, told the Bench.Visibly surprised at the litigant’s unusual manner of addressing the court, Justice Viswanathan shot back, “You are ordering me? You are ordering us?”“That is all from my side. Everything is on record,” the litigant said and allegedly hurled abuses before throwing his case papers into the air.He was immediately overpowered and removed from the courtroom by security personnel and the court proceedings continued normally.Later, a formal order passed by the Bench, read: “When this matter was taken up, Mr Prabal Pratap, who appeared as petitioner-in-person on behalf of both the petitioners in this matter, instead of presenting the case, made incoherent and unparliamentary utterances.”Displaying magnanimity, the Bench said, “We have, however, considering the condition of the petitioner above named, do not propose to take any action against him.”The Bench dismissed his petition challenging an April 2026 Allahabad High Court verdict, saying there was no good ground to interfere with the impugned judgment/order(s).”On October 6, 2025, an elderly advocate—Rakesh Kishore—attempted to hurl a shoe at then-CJI BR Gavai during proceedings, miffed over Justice Gavai’s alleged remarks on Hindu gods in an earlier proceeding. Security personnel escorted him out of the court and the Bar Council of India suspended his licence and the Supreme Court Bar Association also terminated his membership. Justice Gavai chose not to take any action against Kishore.
