Delhi BJP president and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra on Tuesday accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal of attempting to revive his political fortunes through the newly formed Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), alleging that the party was trying to mislead and provoke the youth. The remarks came after Kejriwal announced at a press conference that he would join the CJP platform on Thursday.Malhotra alleged that Kejriwal, who entered politics through the ‘India Against Corruption’ movement in 2011, was now trying to recreate the same political strategy by backing the CJP, which he claimed was floated by Kejriwal’s former associate Abhijeet Deepke.”Kejriwal, who rose to political prominence by making Anna Hazare undertake a hunger strike in 2011, believes that through Abhijeet Deepke, he can once again preserve his political relevance by making Sonam Wangchuk undertake a hunger strike under the CJP banner. But the youth of the country will no longer fall into his political chess game,” Malhotra said.He alleged that Kejriwal’s attempt to mobilise young people through the platform had failed, claiming that participation by youth at Jantar Mantar had remained limited.Malhotra also alleged that social activist Sonam Wangchuk had become “a victim of Kejriwal’s petty politics” and claimed that the AAP chief had forgotten that “the same trick does not work twice”.
