STAMFORD BRIDGE could still host Champions League football this season – despite Chelsea failing to qualify.
The Blues ended the 2025/26 season 10th in the Premier League table, meaning they did not qualify for Europe at all.

However, their stadium could still host European games this term – just for another team.
The Standard reports that Shakhtar Donetsk have contacted Chelsea about the possibility of playing their home Champions League fixtures at Stamford Bridge.

Shakhtar have been unable to play their European games in their home city since Russia invaded Ukraine four years ago.
Last season, they made the Synerise Arena in Krakow, Poland, their temporary ground for the Conference League.

Before that, it was the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
But this term they are sounding out a potential home in London.
It was revealed last month that Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium was a potential option.
Stamford Bridge is another possible venue that could be used, as well as Craven Cottage, the home of Chelsea’s neighbours, Fulham.

Venues in Germany are also under consideration by Shakhtar Donetsk.
A statement from the club, as per Standard Sport, read: “Shakhtar is currently negotiating with several venues in the United Kingdom and Germany in order to secure a host stadium for its UEFA Champions League matches next season.
“We will not comment on the process until a decision is announced in the near future.”
