EXPERTS have pinpointed the top nine locations in the UK for Brits to experience a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse.
The rare occurrence will take place next month with daylight noticeably dimming across much of the nation.

While you’ll have to travel further afield to see the solar eclipse in full, experts said those in nine UK locations will be able to notice a significant change in light.
It comes as a total solar eclipse prepares to sweep across northern Spain and the Balearics – with the next one not expected until 2090.

This will be the first to cross mainland Europe since 1999, and the first visible in Spain since 1905.
While Britain will not experience a total eclipse, most of the country will still see the vast majority of the sun blocked from view.

The solar eclipse takes place on August 12, with Hugh Town, lan’s End and Strumble Head among the top places to experience the once-in-a-lifetime event.
As astronomers point out, the UK will not be plunged into complete darkness this time because the sun will not be as completely covered as other countries.
Other areas where there will be a noticeable dimming of light include Boscastle.

However, enough sunlight is expected to be blocked to cause a noticeable drop in brightness and temperature, according to the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
Depending on how clear the skies are, daylight could briefly take on the appearance of dusk or dawn.
The effect will be strongest in the south-west, where a greater proportion of the sun will be covered during the eclipse.
