A MOTHER allegedly scrolled through TikTok and visited pornographic websites more than 30 times as her six-month-old son was dying, police say.

Tatiana Norman is accused of deliberately throwing little Jeremiah Peters into a playpen before failing to get him medical help as his condition deteriorated.

The tragic baby was eventually found unresponsive at Norman’s home on West Chestnut Drive in Lakeland, Florida, shortly before midnight on June 29.

Jeremiah was rushed to Lakeland Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead at 12.32am on June 30.

Police Chief Sammy Taylor Jr said the child may already have been dead for hours before his mum finally called 911.

Taylor said: “I think the child was probably deceased hours before she called us, just based on the evidence and the temperature of the body and the temperature a child should be.

“I think the child’s temperature when he got to the emergency room was 94, so I feel like he’d been dead for several hours by the time she decided to call us.”

Norman initially told cops she had put Jeremiah to bed while she prepared a bottle, only to return and find him lying on the tiled floor after falling from the bed.

But detectives say she later changed her story, claiming she had been sleeping beside Jeremiah and her one-year-old when they may have rolled onto the baby.

An autopsy allegedly tore apart her accounts, finding injuries that did not match her explanations.

The examination also found an unexplained mark on Jeremiah’s thigh was not caused by hot bathwater, as Norman had claimed, but by “a more significant thermal event.”

Police say Norman eventually confessed to a series of shocking incidents on the day her son died.

According to an arrest affidavit, she told detectives that at around 9am she accidentally dropped Jeremiah face-first while reaching for a remote.

Rather than seeking urgent medical help, she allegedly searched online for concussion symptoms and monitored him at home.

Jeremiah then allegedly suffered another brutal fall when Norman’s one-year-old climbed into his rocking bassinet, causing it to topple over.

Police say the infant again landed face-first.

Norman also allegedly gave detectives a string of conflicting explanations for the burn on Jeremiah’s leg.

She initially blamed laundry detergent used by the baby’s father before admitting she had spilled microwave noodle broth onto his leg, according to the affidavit.

The document stated: “Norman advised she contacted Jeremiah’s pediatrician via telephone regarding that injury.

“It should be noted that the injury to Jeremiah’s leg is not consistent with any of the statements provided to law enforcement.”

Then, at around 1pm, police say Norman became overwhelmed by her crying children.

Detectives allege she “intentionally ‘tossed’ or ‘threw’ Jeremiah into a playpen from a standing position” from several feet away.

During her explanation, Norman reportedly demonstrated both an underhand and an overhand throw.

Police say Jeremiah slammed his back and head into the playpen, which had no cushion on its base.

Norman allegedly told detectives that her son did not cry after the impact.

Taylor said: “When she threw the infant into the playpen, a visceral and obvious reaction of curling his hands and pulling his hands up, I think that’s probably when the significant injury occurred.”

Jeremiah then allegedly became increasingly lethargic and drank less formula, but police say Norman still did not seek medical attention.

Her phone activity has now emerged as a chilling part of the investigation.

At 2.10pm, Norman allegedly searched Google for “baby feels cold”, followed minutes later by “what happens when baby had concussion in Florida”.

Yet police say she then switched to TikTok, watching two videos including a cooking clip at 3.34pm.

The affidavit states she returned to the cooking video repeatedly until 4.23pm.

Even more disturbingly, detectives say Norman accessed pornographic websites more than 30 times while Jeremiah’s condition continued to worsen.

The baby’s father later texted Norman at around 10pm asking for a photograph of his son, but allegedly received no response before discovering Jeremiah was no longer breathing.

The Polk County Medical Examiner’s Office said Jeremiah might have survived if he had received medical attention immediately, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit states she described feeling depressed and having suicidal thoughts, as well as a history of PTSD and borderline personality disorder.

Norman has been charged with one count of aggravated child abuse.

The charges could be upgraded as prosecutors continue their investigation.
