COPS have found a body after a frantic search was launched for a missing 47-year-old man who vanished.

Ben, 47, is thought to have intended to go rock climbing when he left his home in St Davids in Wales, at around midday on Wednesday.

Loved ones raised the alarm with the emergency services when they didn’t hear from him for hours.

Cops have now confirmed that a body has sadly been found in the coastal area of Caer Bwdy, Pembrokeshire.

Dyfed-Powys Police said that formal identification has not yet taken place.

The family of the deceased have been notified, said the force.

Cops confirmed that enquiries are still underway.

In a statement issued on Thursday evening, the force said: “Formal identification has not yet taken place, and while the family have been informed of this development, we are not in a position to confirm the identity of the deceased at this time.

“They are being supported by specially trained officers.

“We ask that the family’s privacy is respected while enquiries continue.”

It is believed he intended to head to either Carreg y Barcud area, near Trelerw, or Caer Bwdy Bay, outside St Davids in Pembrokeshire.

Ben was previously described as around 5ft 11in tall, of athletic build, with short brown/greying hair and brown eyes.

He was carrying an orange bag and wearing black climbing shoes with an orange strap when he disappeared.

The Coastguard boat and helicopter were both involved in the search.
