THE Tories have slammed Andy Burnham for sticking with the 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel cars.
Ministers are ploughing £65million into the electric vehicle industry to help them reach the timeline for the phase out of fossil fuel motors.

The Government has insisted they are committed to banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in four years despite a Net Zero backlash.
Industry Minister Blair McDougall said: “Britain invented the modern motor industry and we’re determined to ensure the next generation of vehicles are designed and built here too.”

Officials at the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade said the funding would support 1,800 jobs directly as well as thousands more in the supply chain.
But Conservative Shadow Transport Secretary Richard Holden said: “Andy Burnham could have broken with Ed Milliband’s disastrous net zero obsession by taking on the Conservatives’ detailed plan for drivers including abolishing the ZEV mandate, saving the British car industry and its supply chain from extinction.
