FOR many, tucking into a Snickers or Twix bar is a favourite treat – but as we all know, there is a lot less to them now than there used to be.
While sweets still come in a familiar wrapper, the products inside these days are a very different size to the ones we grew up eating.

Recently, a video of a 35-year-old Mars bar went viral after it was found to weigh 22.5g more than the version sold today.
Victoria Gordon, who runs a cleaning service, posted a picture online of the 62.5g bar alongside one of today’s Mars bars, which weighs 40g.

“It was nearly as big as my hand,” she said after finding the 1991 choccie bar while clearing out an attic.
“The difference means that the product has shed more than a third of its weight over 35 years.

Shoppers have watched their favourite chocolate bars decrease in size while prices stay the same – or even rise – a process referred to as “shrinkflation”.
Manufacturers cite rising production costs and the soaring price of cocoa as the key factors behind the shrinkage.
Marketing expert Professor Ratula Chakrubarty, from the University of East Anglia, said: “Brands have been using shrinkflation for a while.
“Consumers are unable to notice a five to ten per cent difference in weight.”

Cadbury Dairy Milk was 200g, is now 180g, and has shrunk by 10%
