A US-India scientific collaboration has been launched to set up “dry wells” in Punjab to tackle the state’s fast-depleting aquifers by harnessing surplus floodwater and storing it underground.Punjab is among India’s most groundwater-stressed states, with decades of intensive paddy cultivation and climate change driving a sharp decline in water tables in the northern belt.
