The Haryana government has allowed free travel for women of all ages, along with their children (up to age 15), on Raksha Bandhan Day, which falls on August 28.As per a letter from the Director, State Transport, Dhirendra Khadgata, to all general managers of Haryana Roadways, this concession will be available for women and children from noon on August 27 up to midnight of August 28 in ordinary buses of Haryana Roadways operating within the state and including such buses plying up to Chandigarh and Delhi.The letter, dated August 24, further directed the general managers, “to ensure convenience for the passengers, including women, and to personally ensure that adequate numbers of buses are deployed for operation on this day. Adequate staff in uniform should be deployed at the bus stands to guide the public.”It added, “The staff should be particularly instructed to be courteous with the travelling public. You may also get in touch with the district administration for deployment of an adequate number of police personnel at the bus stands to ensure security and smooth operation of buses.”
