The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Monday announced a fresh round of protests if the government fails to keep its promise of withdrawal of FIRs against the student protesters and organisers.”Since the day we called off the protest, we have been pressing the government for the withdrawal of FIRs against the protesters and organisers. Union Minister JP Nadda assured us that a written agreement in this regard would be provided to us by Tuesday. If it does not reach us, we will be forced to revolt again,” Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said at a press conference here. “We are even ready to move court if the FIRs are not withdrawn,” he added.The CJP also launched ‘Saakshi’ portal to gather evidence of police brutalities against the students during the NEET paper leak protests on July 20. The party also said that it was making a database of lawyers willing to help the students booked for the protests across the country.CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the outfit has launched www.cockroachjantaparty.org/saakshi to gather evidence against the lathicharge on the students by the Delhi Police on July 20.”As we promised during the protest, we will identify every uniformed man, be it the Delhi Police or RAF (Rapid Action Force), who tortured the protesters. The Saakshi portal is the first step in this direction. Anyone with videos or photographs of the brutality of that day can upload the same on the platform to help us bring these personnel to book,” he said.“We are also creating a database of lawyers who are willing to help students booked by the police in various states for participating in the protest. Such a measure is crucial to instil a sense of confidence in our youth that they can speak the truth to the powerful without any fear,” he added.Senior Supreme Court advocate Kapil Sibal, who was also present at the presser, said he had donated Rs 1 crore to this initiative by the CJP. He also urged lawyers to come forward and be a part of the measure.”I have been giving legal aid to the CJP. I believe that the present government will try to give a communal colour to the FIRs against the students, with those belonging to the minority community being targeted,” he said.CJP spokesperson Ratna Singh said reports are coming that many students, especially in BJP-ruled states, have been rounded up. The maximum number of such incidents are being reported from Assam, Bihar and Kolkata, she said.”In Kolkata, Goonda Act has been invoked against the arrested students. In fact, 10 out of 11 students arrested in the city are Muslims. The maximum number of arrests (86) have been reported from Bihar, especially from Siwan, Patna and Chapra. Attempt to murder charges have also been invoked in the state. Although we are coordinating with many lawyers across the country, we need more advocates in Bihar because of the sheer volume of cases,” she noted.The CJP had called off its 49-day agitation at Jantar Mantar on July 25 after the government accepted key demands of the protesters, including the resignation of then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and assured action on other demands within an agreed timeline.Security remains tight in DelhiHeightened security deployment will remain in force across New Delhi and Central Delhi districts to maintain law and order as the CJP has warned of fresh protests. The deployment of police personnel remains constant in and around New Delhi district, an official said.Earlier, the police had cancelled the leave of their personnel in view of the protest situation and had deployed cops from other districts as well.
