A TOP Good Morning Britain presenter has announced that she will be leaving the show for ‘personal reasons’.

The newsreader had become part of the regular cast of the hit ITV show and her departure wasn’t expected.

Lois Swinnerton has announced she is taking an extended break from the show for a “new adventure” in her personal life.

The broadcaster, who delivers the regional news, travel and weather updates for viewers across the Midlands, revealed she will step away for several months.

However, Lois reassured fans she is not leaving permanently and expects to return to ITV Central next year.

Sharing the news alongside a series of snaps from the studio, she wrote: “Saying bye for now!

“It’s my last few days waking you up on Good Morning Britain in the Midlands for a little while. From next week I’m switching off the 4am alarm and taking a few months off for a new adventure in my personal life!”

“I look forward to seeing you all again on ITV Central next year. Until then À bientôt!”

While Lois did not reveal where she is heading, her “À bientôt” sign-off and the flurry of French replies beneath the post could offer a clue.

One follower wrote: “Bonne chance,” while another added: “Au revoir.”

The journalist joined ITV’s regional news operation in 2020, initially working in its Calendar newsroom in Yorkshire before returning to her home region.

The Stafford-born journalist later became the face of Good Morning Britain’s early regional bulletins across the Midlands, with her punishing schedule requiring regular 4am starts.

Nitya Rajan will now step in to present the updates during Lois’s absence.
