Senior Congress leader and former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot has been appointed as AICC General Secretary in-charge of Punjab with immediate effect.The appointment was announced in a press release issued by AICC General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal on Saturday.According to the release, the Congress president has reassigned and appointed six leaders as AICC General Secretary/in-charge of various states. While Bhupesh Baghel has been given charge of Assam and Randeep Singh Surjewala of Gujarat and Karnataka (additional charge), Sachin Pilot has been assigned Punjab.The party also appreciated the contributions of outgoing General Secretary/in-charges Jitendra Singh, Ramesh Chennithala and Manickam Tagore.Mukul Wasnik will continue as General Secretary, AICC, the release said.
