The police had been searching for him after the shooting, which also left four others injured. The incident was captured in a Facebook live stream by Jhota, showing a confrontation between him and the chemist shop owner over the alleged sale of drugs. Jhota was known for campaigning against drug abuse and exposing the sale of addictive substances through the drug stores. His killing has triggered widespread protests in Mansa, with activists and supporters demanding action against those responsible. The town is observing a shutdown for the second consecutive day today. Jhota’s body is still lying at the Civil Hospital, with the postmortem examination pending.
