Usually children follow the footsteps of parents, but the tide turned opposite in case of twice T20 World Cup Winner and Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh, as his father Darshan Singh has been selected to represent India in Above 60’s Cricket World Cup, to be held in Mississauga (Canada), later in August 2026.The Veterans Cricket India (VCI) announced the final 16-member squad for the over 60’s Cricket World Cup, to be organised by Council of Canada Masters Cricket (CCMC).The election criteria included a competitive National Inter-Zonal Tournament and rigorous fitness assessments, this squad reflects VCI’s focus on skill, fitness, temperament.UR Radhakrishnan, Verinder Bhoombla, Hyder Ali, Sanjay Ranjan Sinha, Jaison Manjhila, Kanchi Kishore, Sanjay Mahadik, Dinesh Nichrelay, Subramanyam Raju, Ebrahim Jelani, Ashok Vasudevan, Mayank Khandwala, Darshan Singh, Viren Patel, Thygarajan and Kumaraswami have been selected to play in the tournament.The Indian team has been placed in Pool B alongside, England, New Zealand, USA, Zimbabwe, West Indies and Scotland.The Pool A consists of Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Canada, South Africa, Wolves and IMC Emerging Nations. The tournament will start on August 9 and the final will be played on August 23.Darshan, a former CISF inspector, is a cricket enthusiast himself and plays corporate cricket and has been a cornerstone in Arshdeep’s rise from local grounds to international cricket.
