AT LEAST one person is dead and 11 others are missing after a massive mudslide smashed into a village in China.
A dozen houses were damaged after the wall of dirt and debris cascaded into Suichuan County in Jiangxi province in the early hours this morning.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene to relocate residents to safer ground, authorities said in a statement.
One person pulled from the destruction was pronounced dead at the scene while two others were recovered alive, it added.

Typhoon Saudel first struck Zhejiang Province on August 28 before moving across to the Fujian Province on Thursday. Both provinces neighbour Jiangxi.
About 600,000 residents have been evacuated from Fujian as of Friday night, Xinhua reported.
Many remain missing after days of heavy rain battered the region, destroying more than 100 houses in Huating Town, Putian city.

Images from state broadcaster CCTV showed streets turned into rivers as rescuers deployed inflatable boats to scour the area for survivors.
Bricks and wood from destroyed buildings could be seen floating in the dirty floodwater while partially collapsed homes were left with gaping holes.
The disaster comes just days after catastrophic flash-floods ripped through the Nepal-Tibet border killing more than 1,200 people.
Thousands remain missing after the mass of water, mud and debris tore through the Himalayan communities.
Entire settlements were engulfed in mud leaving many with no chance of escape.
The scale of the disaster is hampering rescue efforts, with landslides, destroyed roads and widespread damage cutting off remote areas.
Rescuers are racing to reach hundreds of workers believed to be trapped inside tunnels at hydropower projects in Nepal damaged by the floods.
About 900 workers are missing from 12 projects, with roughly 500 believed to be trapped in tunnels, according to local authorities.

Three workers have been pulled out alive from the Trishuli project in the Rasuwa district since Friday.
Large boulders and flood waters overwhelmed many of the tunnels, blocking off entrances and burying them deep in mud.
It took rescue crews six days to find the tunnels at the Trishuli facility – where crews are now pumping air into the site and draining water.
It comes as Nepalese morgues are overwhelmed with the number of bodies arriving.
