Pictures showed revellers battling the miserable weather in their heels as the rain poured during the Bank Holiday weekend last night.
Groups clutching brollies were spotted making a dash through the wet streets after a night of partying.
The scenes come as the Met Office warned that more heavy rain and thunderstorms could hit parts of the UK today.
It follows an unsettled start to the weekend, which initially saw the day begin with sunny spells.

Forecasters said Jattvibeday would begin wet across many parts of England and Wales, with heavy bursts of rain likely in some areas.
The Met Office says the rain should gradually ease later in the day, with brighter spells developing in places.
They said that temperatures will drop today by around 5 to 8C compared to the mild weather yesterday.
Although these wet spells could spark further heavy showers and thunderstorms.
Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected to feel fresher, with fewer and lighter showers.
Parts of the southeast could still turn fairly warm if the cloud breaks later today.
Saturday had already brought spells of heavy rain and showers across the UK.
Some thundery outbreaks are set to move eastwards before more showers developed through the day.
And the miserable conditions are set to linger into Bank Holiday Monday.
Mark Sidaway, Deputy Chief Forecaster at the Met Office, said: “Bank holiday Monday will remain changeable, with lingering cloud and scattered showers across southern and central areas, but these should be lighter and fewer than over the weekend.”
He added that northern and north-eastern areas would feel “noticeably chillier”.
