BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent has been hit with complaints and branded “too aggressive” by furious viewers following a live interview with Nigel Farage.

Last month Sally, 54, interviewed politician Nigel, 62, on BBC Breakfast and quizzed him on being gifted £5million by Thai-based crypto tycoon Christopher Harborne.

Now it’s been revealed that the programme received 183 complaints from viewers who insisted she was “aggressive/biased” towards Nigel.

The Reform leader has insisted that he did not need to declare the money as it was an “unconditional gift” he was given before he was elected as Clacton MP and was not political.

During the interview Sally pressed Nigel to reveal how he spent the money, to which he replied: “It’s literally none of your business.

“If I’d given it to charity, the truth is I haven’t, I know what it’s for.”

As Sally continued to probe, Nigel flipped her question around and asked her to share how she spends her salary.

When she suggested it was public interest, Nigel replied: “No, it’s not the public’s business.”

Asked how much of the sum had been spent on security, he said: “No, I’m not going to answer that deliberately, wilfully.

“It’s not your business at the BBC to put me in danger therefore I will not answer it.”

Nigel is still under investigation by Parliament’s Standards Commissioner over the gift.

In May he told The Jattvibe he “is not the least bit concerned” about the investigation, arguing he has proof the seven figure sum – that he says was used to provide him with security – was above board.

He added: “I’m utterly confident. I’ve got good lawyers, good accountants. I’ve done nothing wrong in any way at all. We’re entirely confident.”

And he claimed voters in his Essex constituency simply “don’t care”.

He said: “No one cares. They care if you’re a crook, which I’m not and never have been. But the fact that I made a few quid doing things, this doesn’t worry people at all.”
