Legal and political trouble could significantly mount for Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal, following a crucial statement recorded by former Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Behbal Kalan police firing case.Reports indicate that video recordings and corroborative documentation of Badal’s confession and religious submissions were highlighted during the recording of the statement.The former Jathedar reportedly stated before SIT that unarmed and innocent protesters were targeted under a conspiracy during the SAD regime.The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also shared the social media post on their X handle and party spokesperson Baltej Pannu also made a reference of the incident and confessions of Sukhbir Singh Badal before the Akal Takht.The Behbal Kalan police firing occurred in October 2015 during anti-sacrilege protests in Faridkot, Punjab, while the SAD-BJP coalition was in power. It resulted in the deaths of two Sikh protesters.
