Liverpool vs Crystal Palace preview
Liverpool will hope to take a step closer to securing Champions League football next season when they face bogey side Crystal Palace this afternoon.
The Reds sit fifth – the final UCL qualifying spot – on 55 points with five games remaining, following their dramatic Merseyside derby win over Everton last weekend.
Captain Virgil van Dijk struck late to spark scenes of ecstasy, and boss Arne Slot will hope it proves a turning point as he looks to finish the season strongly amid growing pressure.
There is reason to back them at odds of 4/9.
Liverpool have won six of their last 10 Premier League games – more than in their previous 18 combined – and face a Palace side who may have one eye on next week’s Conference League semi-final against Shakhtar Donetsk.
But that’s where the positives end.
Palace have had Liverpool’s number in recent years, and especially this season. The Eagles have already beaten them three times – in the Community Shield, Premier League and Carabao Cup – and will fancy their chances again.
Oliver Glasner’s side have scored exactly twice in each of their last five Premier League games against the Reds, who are winless in their last three home league matches against Palace.
