BJP leader Subhash Sharma questions Ropar district body appointments, alleges party protocol ignored

Infighting has erupted in Ropar BJP over recent appointments in district body. Senior leader of BJP and vice president of state BJP, has expressed reservations at the appointments.Subhash Sharma, who is in US, while talking to The Tribune on phone said that the appointments have been made without any consultations with him or the party in-charge for the district. “I have filed a complaint in the matter with the state president of party,” he said.Sharma said the appointments were made while he was away to the US and that party protocols have not been followed.The sources told The Tribune that recent appointments to the district body — especially in Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency — have peeved Subhash Sharma. Sharma who has been working in Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency for the past more than one year. His efforts are being seen as preparation contesting for forth coming Assembly elections from Anandpur Sahib. However, the team of Subhash Sharma has been replaced in recent appointments in district body of Ropar and Anandpur Sahib bloc BJP which also came as a shock for his supporters.In his build up to his Assembly election, Sharma has been working on various developmental projects in Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency. He was instrumental in getting Vande Bharat train in Nangal and getting infrastructure of BBMB hospital renovated. However, recent appointments in Ropar district have allegedly ignored the supporters of Subhash Sharma.District president of BJP Ajayvir Singh Lalpura when asked about resentment against appointments expressed by Subhash Sharma, said that the appointments have been made as per the party protocol. “Subhash Sharma was a senior leader of the party and he can call me if he has any resentment regarding the appointments,” he said.In Ropar district, the BJP has been concentrating on Anandpur Sahib and Ropar Assembly constituencies. From Anandpur Sahib, Subhash Sharma was the prominent face of BJP while from Ropar, Ajayvir Singh Lalpura was in race for party ticket. Lalpura was son of senior party leader and member of parliamentary board of party Iqbal Singh Lalpura.
