BRITISH cyclist Finlay Tarling has died at 19 in a serious accident during the Volta a Portugal’s eighth leg.
Portuguese media reported the young cyclist was hit by car in horror road crash between Melgaco and Fafe.

The car was reportedly driving the wrong way down the road as the peloton passed through Ponte de Lima in the north of the country.
The race has been postponed as a mark of respect, with a planned podium ceremony in Fafe cancelled.

The Volta a Portugal organisation and Portuguese Cycling Federation confirmed the death.
They said in a statement: “At this moment of profound shock and sadness, the Volta a Portugal organisation and the Portuguese Cycling Federation extend their deepest condolences to Finlay Tarling’s family, his teammates, NSN Development Team and all of his friends and loved ones.”
Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro said the death was “a piece of news that leaves us deeply shaken”.
He said: “I extend heartfelt condolences from the Government of Portugal to his family and his team, as well as to the entire peloton.”
