Over 20 cases similar to Vedant Shrivastava have come before the CBSE, said sources.Vedant recently flagged that the physics answer sheet uploaded under his roll number did not belong to him. The board acknowledged the mistake and sent the correct answer scripts.“Twenty such odd cases have come to light where the scanned pages were mixed up,” a senior official from the Education Ministry said. Lower marks were mostly seen in physics and mathematics. It has also come to light that over 50 children faced the challenge of being charged exorbitant fees for scanned answer sheets. The ministry official said: “The portal faced a technical failure that led to incorrect fee deductions for Class XII students applying for scanned copies of their evaluated answer books. Later, the CBSE announced that it would refund the excess fee charged due to the technical glitch.”“In order to fix the payment gateway, the Education Ministry has roped in the SBI, Canara Bank, Indian Bank and Bank of Baroda. Earlier, there was only one payment gateway. We thought of having multiple payment gateways,” the official added.Last year, two lakh children had applied for re-evaluation, the number rose to four lakh this year.A team from IIT-Madras and IIT-Kanpur are inspecting the flaws in the portal and the reason behind the technical glitch. The ministry is also mulling to send the marksheet, along with answer sheets, on digi locker from the next academic session, the official said.Meanwhile, the CBSE has postponed the launch of its portal for verification and re-evaluation of Class XII answer sheets from May 29 to June 1.“In order to ensure a transparent and glitch-free process for verification and re-evaluation of answer books of students who intend to submit their applications on the Post-Result Activities portal, it has been decided that the designated portal will now be operational from June 1, 2026. This is to ensure the highest standards and protocols of evaluation,” the CBSE said in a statement.
