Celine Tengam Koyu, seen in Aspirants 3, is carving her own path—one role at a time.Early in her career, she admits, choice isn’t always a given. “Where we come from, we don’t get to make many choices. But I try, as much as I can, to do something new on screen,” she says.Celine is careful not to repeat herself. “When I feel I’ve done something before, that’s my cue—it’s getting repetitive. I tweak small details in the character to break the pattern,” she explains, adding that even subtle changes can refresh a role. For her, growth comes from pushing boundaries. “I look for roles that challenge me. To become a better actor, I have to break myself into pieces—the more I explore, the better I’ll become,” she shares.Off screen, she’s just as committed—writing stories, building characters and even rehearsing in front of the mirror. “It may sound peculiar, but it really helps,” she says with a smile. She’s also mindful of representation, especially from the Northeast. “Portraying the NE authentically is a big responsibility. I try to avoid stereotype-based characters,” she says firmly. As for expectations? She keeps it simple. “I don’t feel pressure. I know my well-wishers want the best, and I hope to live up to that with meaningful work.”
