CHAMPIONS LEAGUE winner Wesley Sneijder wanted Uefa to cancel Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid after watching the first 35 minutes of Tuesday’s Emirates showdown.

The Gunners beat Atletico 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate to make their first Champions League final for 20 years.

But it did not deliver the entertainment factor like Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain did in the first leg of the other semi last week.

That will resume at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night with PSG leading 5-4.

And many people, including Sneijder, reckon those two teams should be battling it out for European supremacy.

Sneijder, on punditry duty for Arsenal’s win, told Ziggo Sport: “After just 35 minutes, I wanted to call Uefa to cancel the match and declare Bayern Munich vs PSG as the Champions League final. That does not look like a semi.”

So he knows what it takes to sit at the head of the continent’s top table.

Arsenal and Atletico only managed four shots on target between them but Mikel Arteta will not care a jot.

Bukayo Saka‘s 44th-minute rebound edged the North Londoners closer to a seismic double, with Manchester City slipping up in the Premier League on Monday.

And Sneijder gave Arteta his dues – albeit with a backhanded comment about the Arsenal squad.

He said: “This gentleman [Arteta]… I can’t say it often enough, people. But he really deserves a statue already.

“With this team, it is so impressive to reach the final. Leaving all the other world-class teams behind you, I think that is very impressive.”
